HELP US HELP THEM SOLDIERING ON
The Soldiering On Through Life Trust has appointed marketing and sponsorship specialist Purple Tangerine to source partners for its calendar of fund raising events. See www.purpletangerine.com/soldieringon for full details
Dedicated to those that have fallen and those that are still soldiering on, the charity’s aim is to relieve the financial hardship of people who have served, or who are presently serving in the armed forces, as well as their families. The Soldiering On Through Life Trust fills a massive gap by supporting numerous armed forces organisations such as: the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund; The Royal Naval Benevolent Fund; ABF - The Soldiers Charity; The Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity and BLESMA. All monies raised go to people who are suffering from either physical disability due to injury and/or mental disabilities.
Nigel Jones, managing director of Purple Tangerine, says: This truly is a great cause to support and give something back to those who have given so much for their country. The Trust is unique in that it supports servicemen and women from all campaigns from World War II onwards.
We are talking with companies who want to support Britain and get involved with one or more of the several well-publicised events held each year including the annual Soldiering On Awards. The 2012 Soldiering On Awards were a star-studded affair at the Waldorf Astoria Syon Park luxury hotel presented by Gloria Hunniford and Mike Read with performances from Escala and The Ultimate Earth Wind & Fire.
Celebrity guests included: Anthony Andrews; Tom O’Connor ; Vicki Michelle; Peter Stringfellow; Michael Barrymore; Lord John Prescott; Chris Tarrant; Angela Rippon; Air Marshall Andrew Pulford; The First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope ; not least the recently Moneyexpert.com MD Martin Lewis and Lara Lewington; as well as celebrity auctioneer Tom Keane.
There are nine Awards planned for 2013 including: Lifetime Achievement; an International Award honoring non UK serviceman; a Families Award; an Against All Odds Award; a Sporting Endeavour Award; and a Generations Award.
In 2012 sponsors included: NetApp; SAAB; Breitling; Boeing; Stringfellows; Cassidian; Atlas; Onedeck; British Bulkers; Inmarsat; Spectra Group; Excel Aviation; Cisco; Pearldrop; Manpower; Jack Daniels; Pimpco; NSSL Global; FusionIO; Idirect; and HCD Chauffeur Drive. Major Ian Mattison, the Trusts CEO, says: Our forces may not always be serving across the globe in future years but we must never forget those who have given their all and who for the rest of their lives must live without eyes, arms or legs. They need our constant support and we must not neglect them. Out of sight is not out of mind for us as we make sure they are able to continue Soldiering On throughout their lives.
